Norman Levine

Norman Levine (1923–2005) was a Canadian writer. The son of Polish Orthodox Jews, he grew up in Ottawa and served as a bomber pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. He subsequently studied at McGill University. Levine wrote short stories, essays, poetry and two novels. He received the Canada Council Arts Award in 1969 and 1971, and in 2001 the Writers’ Trust of Canada honoured him with the Matt Cohen Award for lifetime achievement.
