Nikolaus Heidelbach (born 1955) is a German illustrator, picture-book author and freelance artist. He studied German literature, art history and theatre studies. Among his best-known works is the picture book Königin Gisela, which received the German Children’s and Young Adult Literature Prize. In 2000, he was awarded the prize’s special award for his complete body of work. Heidelbach has written and illustrated numerous books himself and illustrated many others, including Wörter, die es nicht auf Hochdeutsch gibt and Schimpfwörter, die es nicht auf Hochdeutsch gibt.
