Monika Bittl (1963–2022) grew up in a small Bavarian village. After training in journalism and spending time abroad in Sicily, Egypt, and Iceland, she studied German literature, psychology, and film in Munich. She initially worked as a journalist and became a freelance author in 1992. Her work includes screenplays, nonfiction, and novels. Her book “Ich hatte mich jünger in Erinnerung” reached the top of the SPIEGEL bestseller list.
