Michail Krausnick

Michail Krausnick (born 1943 in Berlin) studied literary studies and sociology in Heidelberg and earned a doctorate. As a freelance writer, he worked across a range of genres, including novels, radio plays, film and television scripts, plays, poetry, books for children and young adults, nonfiction, and biographies; he also wrote for cabaret. He was a member of the Association of German Writers (VS), PEN, and the literary society Die Kogge. His biography of the poet Georg Herwegh received the German Youth Literature Prize. Among his other honors were the CIVIS Prize (1994), the Louise Zimmermann Prize (1998), and the Wildweibchen Prize (1999).
