Michael Tsokos, born in Kiel in 1967, is a professor of forensic medicine and a prominent German expert in forensic science. In Berlin, he headed the Charité Institute of Forensic Medicine as well as the State Institute for Forensic and Social Medicine. As a member of the Federal Criminal Police Office’s identification commission, he took part in forensic medicine projects in Germany and abroad, including in Bosnia in 1998. In 2005, he received the Bambi Media Award for his work identifying German victims of the tsunami in Thailand. Tsokos has published numerous nonfiction and true-crime books on forensic medicine.
