Matthias Girke, born in Berlin, is a specialist in internal medicine, diabetology and palliative medicine. He co-founded the Department of General Internal Medicine at Gemeinschaftskrankenhaus Havelhöhe in Berlin, a hospital for anthroposophic medicine, where he served as senior physician for more than 21 years and later as a consultant. From 2016 to 2023, he headed the Medical Section at the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland. His publications include “Innere Medizin,” “Geriatrie,” “Medizin und Menschenbild,” and “Nah-Tod-Erlebnisse,” some of them co-authored with other writers.
