Matthew Quick, born in 1973 in Oaklyn, New Jersey, studied English literature and initially worked as an English teacher. He later traveled through South America and Africa before writing his first novel. His debut, “Silver Linings,” was adapted for the screen; the film won a Golden Globe and the Academy Award for Best Actress. Quick has received, among other distinctions, an Honorable Mention for the PEN/Hemingway Award. His books have been translated into more than 30 languages.
