Matt Ruff was born in New York in 1965 and grew up in Queens as the son of a Lutheran minister. He studied English literature and creative writing at Cornell University, graduating in 1987. He made his debut as a novelist with »Fool on the Hill« (1991). His other works include »G.A.S. The Trilogy of the City Utilities«, »I Am and Other Stories«, »Bad Monkeys«, and »Lovecraft Country«. Ruff is married to the writer Lisa Gold.
