Martin Heidegger

Martin Heidegger (1889–1976) was a German philosopher. He studied theology, mathematics, natural sciences, and philosophy. He received his doctorate in 1913 and completed his habilitation in philosophy in 1915. In 1923, he became a professor of philosophy in Marburg. In 1928, he moved to the University of Freiburg, where he succeeded Edmund Husserl as director of the institute. He was granted emeritus status in 1951. Heidegger is regarded as one of the most influential thinkers of the 20th century.
