Martin Gayford

Martin Gayford (born 1952) is a British art critic and writer. He studied philosophy at Cambridge and worked for publications including The Spectator and Bloomberg News. His books include works on Vincent van Gogh, John Constable and Michelangelo, as well as A Bigger Message: Conversations with David Hockney. In Man with a Blue Scarf, he recounted his experience of sitting for a portrait by Lucian Freud between 2003 and 2005.
