Maria Regina Kaiser was born in Trier in 1952. She studied ancient history, classical archaeology and Hispanic studies in Frankfurt am Main and received her doctorate in 1976. From 1976 to 1986, she conducted research on Greek and Roman antiquity, then worked as an editor at a scholarly publishing house until 1991. She subsequently worked as a freelance writer, publishing historical novels, biographical novels, crime fiction and books for young readers. She also published scholarly works under the name Kaiser-Raiss. Her books include “Selma Lagerlöf: Die Liebe und der Traum vom Fliegen,” “Astrid Lindgren: Helle Nächte, dunkler Wald …” and “Annette von Droste-Hülshoff: Dichterin zwischen den Feuern.” Her books have been translated into six languages.
