Marco Frenschkowski

Marco Frenschkowski (born 1960) is a Protestant theologian and scholar of religion. He studied Protestant theology and Greek studies, was ordained as a pastor in 1986, earned his doctorate in 1994 and completed his habilitation in 2001. At Leipzig University, he held a professorship in New Testament studies with a particular focus on Greco-Roman religious history. His research has addressed ancient and modern religious history and the relationship between religion and culture. He has also written on magical and esoteric discourses and edited annotated editions of classic fantastic and imaginative literature. His works include Heilige Schriften, Die Geheimbünde and Mysterien des Urchristentums.
