Manfred Haferburg

Manfred Haferburg was born in East Germany in 1948 and grew up in Saxony-Anhalt. He studied nuclear engineering at Dresden University of Technology and worked at the Greifswald nuclear power plant. Because of his political stance in the GDR, he came into conflict with the authorities and was imprisoned, among other places, in the Stasi prison at Berlin-Hohenschönhausen. After German reunification, he worked for an international organization on the safety culture of nuclear power plants worldwide.
