Lutz Seiler

Lutz Seiler (born 1963 in Gera) is a German writer. After training as a construction worker, he worked as a carpenter and bricklayer before studying history and German literature in Halle (Saale). During his military service, he became interested in literature and began writing himself. He initially published mainly poetry and essays, later also short stories and novels. His story “Turksib” received the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize in 2007. His debut novel, “Kruso,” won the German Book Prize in 2014, while “Stern 111” received the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in 2020. In 2023, Seiler was awarded the Georg Büchner Prize.
