Ludwig Thoma

Ludwig Thoma (1867–1921) was a German writer. He initially studied forestry and then law in Munich and Erlangen, and worked as a lawyer in Dachau and Munich from 1893 to 1899. From 1899 onward, he contributed to and later edited the satirical magazine Simplicissimus. He became known for his realistic and satirical depictions of everyday life in Bavaria, as well as for his novels, short stories, and plays. His best-known works include Lausbubengeschichten, Der Wittiber, Andreas Vöst, Moral, and Die Lokalbahn. Thoma died in Tegernsee in 1921.
