Ludwig Richter

Adrian Ludwig Richter (1803–1884) was a German painter, etcher, and draughtsman associated with Late Romanticism and the Biedermeier period. As an illustrator, he contributed to more than 150 books. Among his notable works are the illustrations for Johann Karl August Musäus’s Volksmährchen der Deutschen, published in 1842, which is regarded as one of the important illustrated books of the 19th century.
