Kurt Kotrschal is an Austrian biologist, ethologist, and author. From 1990 to 2018, he was a professor of behavioral biology at the University of Vienna and director of the Konrad Lorenz Research Station for Ethology in Grünau. He co-founded the Wolf Science Center in Ernstbrunn and conducted research particularly on the behavior of dogs and wolves and their relationship with humans. In 2010, he was named Scientist of the Year in Austria. His book “Wolf – Hund – Mensch. Die Geschichte einer Jahrtausende alten Beziehung” was named Science Book of the Year in 2013.
