Klaus Sachs-Hombach

Born in 1957, Klaus Sachs-Hombach studied philosophy, psychology, and German philology at the University of Münster, where he received his doctorate in 1990. He completed his habilitation at the University of Magdeburg in 2003. From 1991 to 1993, he conducted research in Oxford and at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 2011, he became professor of media studies, specializing in media innovation and media change, at the University of Tübingen. His research focuses include image, media, communication, and semiotic theory, as well as aesthetics, cultural theory, and the history of psychology and cognitive science. His publications include »Das Bild als kommunikatives Medium« (2003) and »Bildwissenschaft und Visual Culture« (2014, edited with Marius Rimmele and Bernd Stiegler).
