Klaus Kanzog

Klaus Kanzog (born 1926) studied German and philosophy at Humboldt University of Berlin and received his doctorate in 1951. After working in library services at the library of the Free University of Berlin, he joined the Institute of German Philology at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 1964. He completed his habilitation in 1972, became an associate professor in 1978, and was granted emeritus status in 1992. His guest professorships included appointments at Dalhousie University in Halifax and the Free University of Berlin. His research focused on scholarly editing, film philology, lexicology, and narrative theory. In 2013, he received the E. T. A. Hoffmann Medal from the E. T. A. Hoffmann Society.
