Kim Hyesoon

Kim Hyesoon (born in 1955 in Uljin, Korea) is a Korean poet, essayist, and critic. She studied Korean literature, and her literary debut, »Poet’s Smoking a Cigarette«, was published in 1979. In 2025, she received the International Literature Award from Berlin’s HKW together with translators Uljana Wolf and Sool Park for the poetry collection »Autobiography of Death«. She was also the first author to receive the Midang Award.
