Kati Naumann was born in Leipzig in 1963 and studied museology. She worked at institutions including the Book Museum of the Deutsche Bücherei Leipzig and the Musical Instrument Museum of Leipzig University. Naumann published novels, wrote lyrics for various artists, and wrote screenplays, including scripts for children’s programs. She also developed several children’s audio and book series. Her libretto for the musical “Elixier,” with music by Tobias Künzel, premiered at the Leipzig Opera.
