Kathrin Janka, born in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1969, is a literary scholar and translator from Czech and Russian. She studied Slavic languages and literatures, East European history, German studies, and comparative literature at Freie Universität Berlin, Charles University in Prague, and the University of Potsdam. Authors translated by her include Magdaléna Platzová, Jiří Kratochvil, Dora Čechová, Vít Slíva, and Milan Jankovič. Her work has also included prose, drama, poetry, academic texts, films, and eyewitness accounts.
