Katharina Hagena (born 1967 in Karlsruhe, Germany) studied English and German literature in Marburg, London and Freiburg and earned a doctorate on James Joyce. She wrote two books about Joyce and taught at the universities of Dublin, Hamburg and Lüneburg. In 2008, she published her first novel, The Taste of Apple Seeds, which was translated into 26 languages and adapted for film. Her subsequent novels include Vom Schlafen und Verschwinden, Das Geräusch des Lichts and Flusslinien, her fourth novel.
