Karl Bruckmaier

Karl Bruckmaier (born 1956 in Lower Bavaria) studied communications and political science and began working in radio in 1978. He hosted music journalism programs at Bayerischer Rundfunk, including “Club 16,” “Zündfunk,” and “Nachtmix,” and began writing pop criticism for the Süddeutsche Zeitung in 1981. In 1989, he turned to radio drama direction. Productions such as Elfriede Jelinek’s “Jackie,” Peter Weiss’s “The Aesthetics of Resistance,” and Alexander Kluge’s “Chronicle of Feelings” received the German Audiobook Award. Bruckmaier was also recognized with the Hörspielpreis der Kriegsblinden. He worked as an author and translator and co-published “OBI oder das Streben nach Glück” with Wilfried Petzi.
