Kai Pannen

Kai Pannen was born in 1961 in Moers on the Lower Rhine. He studied painting and film in Cologne and initially worked as a stage designer, illustrator and animator. He later taught animation and storyboarding and produced animated short films for children. From 2015 onward, he increasingly focused on writing children’s and young adult books. Among his best-known works is the “Du spinnst wohl!” series featuring Karl-Heinz and Bisy. In 2017, the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels named him Reading Artist of the Year.
