Kae Tempest, born in 1985 in southeast London, has worked across rap, poetry, theatre, fiction, performance and music. Tempest has published poetry, the long essay „On Connection“ and the novels „The Bricks That Built the Houses“ and „Fahrenheit Twins“—titles also published in German as „Verbundensein“, „Worauf du dich verlassen kannst“ and „Ein Leben lang gesucht“. For the long poem „Brand New Ancients“, Tempest received the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry. The albums „Everybody Down“ and „Let Them Eat Chaos“ were nominated for the Mercury Prize, and the lyrics for „The Book of Traps and Lessons“ received two Ivor Novello Award nominations. In 2021, Tempest received the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale.
