Jutta Hoffritz

Jutta Hoffritz (born 1966) studied economics in Würzburg, New York, and Berlin. She worked as a journalist and wrote for Die Zeit for more than two decades, including on the history of monetary policy. She also contributed features to Deutschlandfunk. Her interest in inflation was shaped by her grandmother’s accounts of life in the Ruhr region in 1923. A Deutschlandfunk feature she produced for the 150th anniversary of the birth of inflation profiteer Hugo Stinnes provided the impetus for her book.
