Juli Zeh, born in Bonn in 1974, is a German lawyer and writer. She studied law in Passau and Leipzig and attended the German Institute for Literature in Leipzig, later earning a doctorate in European and international law. She spent extended periods in New York and Krakow. Her debut novel, »Adler und Engel«, was published in 2001 and achieved international success. Her notable works include »Spieltrieb«, »Corpus Delicti«, »Unterleuten« and »Über Menschen«. Zeh has also written essays, nonfiction, plays, radio dramas and children’s books. Her many honors include the Thomas Mann Prize and the Heinrich Böll Prize. In 2018, she received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and was elected an honorary judge of the Constitutional Court of Brandenburg.
