Jonathan Carroll, born in New York City in 1949, is an American writer. He studied at Rutgers University in New Jersey, graduating with honors, and subsequently taught at the American International School in Vienna. His first novel, *The Land of Laughs*, was followed by numerous other novels and short stories. Carroll received the British Fantasy Award and the Bram Stoker Award for his work. He was born to a screenwriter and an actress.
