John Scalzi

John Scalzi (born 1969) is an American science-fiction author. Before pursuing fiction full time, he worked as a film critic and as an editor for America Online. His debut novel, Old Man’s War, earned him the 2006 John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer. Redshirts received the 2013 Hugo Award for Best Novel. Entries on his blog, Whatever, also won two Hugo Awards. His other honors include the Locus, Seiun, Geffen, and Kurd-Laßwitz awards.
