John Kampfner is a journalist, author and commentator. He worked for many years as a German foreign correspondent in Bonn, East Berlin and Moscow, reporting on the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet Union from both sides of the Iron Curtain. He wrote and provided commentary for, among others, the Financial Times and the BBC, and served as editor-in-chief of New Statesman magazine. His books include “Blair’s Wars” and “Why the Germans Do It Better”, both of which were bestsellers in the United Kingdom.
