John Ironmonger

John Ironmonger was born in East Africa and grew up in Nairobi. At the age of 17, he moved with his parents to the English coastal town his mother came from. He earned a doctorate in zoology, taught for a time and later moved into the international IT sector. He became best known as the author of *The Whale at the End of the World*, which has been translated into many languages.
