Johannes Willms

Johannes Willms (1948–2022) was a historian and journalist. He headed the editorial team of the ZDF television program “aspekte,” served as arts editor of the Süddeutsche Zeitung, and later reported from Paris as the newspaper’s cultural correspondent. His numerous books focused primarily on German and French history. His works include Nationalismus ohne Nation, Paris. Hauptstadt Europas 1800–1914, Napoleon. Eine Biographie, Tugend und Terror. Geschichte der Französischen Revolution, and Der General. Charles de Gaulle und sein Jahrhundert. Louis XIV. Der Sonnenkönig und seine Zeit was published posthumously in 2023.
