Johanna Wokalek, born in Freiburg in 1975, trained as an actor at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. After an initial engagement at Schauspiel Bonn, she became a member of the ensemble at Vienna’s Burgtheater. Her film roles include „Barfuss“, „The Baader Meinhof Complex“ and „The Pope Joan“, in which she played the leading role in 2009. She received several awards for her acting, including the Alfred Kerr Prize in 1999, the Nestroy Award for Best Young Actress in 2002, and the Bavarian Film Award and Adolf Grimme Award in Gold for „Hierankl“.
