Joe Simpson

Joe Simpson, born in Kuala Lumpur in 1960, is a British mountaineer and writer. At the age of fourteen, he decided to pursue mountaineering and writing. He studied English and philosophy before turning to mountaineering professionally. He gained international recognition with his autobiographical account *Touching the Void*, which became a bestseller and was adapted into a film.
