Jochen Schweitzer

Jochen Schweitzer (1954–2022) was a German psychologist and psychotherapist specializing in child and adolescent therapy. From 1979, he worked as a family therapist in child and adolescent psychiatry and psychosomatic medicine. From 1995 onward, his professional focus was on team and organizational consulting in the health and social services. He headed the Medical Organizational Psychology section at Heidelberg University Hospital’s Institute of Medical Psychology from 2005 to 2022. Schweitzer co-founded the SYMPAthische Psychiatrie project and the Helm Stierlin Institute and co-edited the journal Psychotherapie im Dialog. From 2007 to 2013, he chaired the German Society for Systemic Therapy, Counseling and Family Therapy. With Arist von Schlippe, he co-authored the two-volume textbook Lehrbuch der systemischen Therapie und Beratung.
