Jim Haskins

Jim Haskins (1941–2005) was born in Demopolis, Alabama. He studied history and social psychology at several universities in the United States and worked as a teacher. He became known primarily for his numerous books for young readers about influential Black figures and African American history. His work received several awards, including the Coretta Scott King Award. He also assisted Rosa Parks as a co-author in publishing her autobiography. Haskins died in Manhattan in 2005.
