Janry

Janry is the pseudonym of Belgian comic artist Jean-Richard Geurts, who was born in Zaire in 1957. While studying graphic design in Sint-Pieters-Woluwe near Brussels, he met artist Tome in 1978, beginning a long-term collaboration. Before establishing himself as an author, Janry worked as a clean-up artist on series including “Cubitus,” “Niky,” “Albert Enzian,” “Leonardo,” and “Robin Ausdemwald.” In 1981, Janry and Tome received their first assignment for the magazine “Spirou.” From 1983, they worked on “Spirou and Fantasio” and created their own successful series, “The Little Spirou,” in 1987.
