Jane Goodall

Jane Goodall (born in 1934 in England; some sources specify London) is a British behavioral scientist. From 1960 onward, she studied wild chimpanzees in Tanzania’s Gombe National Park and received a doctorate from the University of Cambridge in 1965. She founded the Jane Goodall Institute, which is dedicated to the protection of primates and their habitats as well as environmental education, and initiated the international youth program Roots & Shoots. Goodall published numerous books on behavioral research and books for children, which have been translated into many languages. She was appointed a United Nations Messenger of Peace in 2002 and was made a Dame of the British Empire (CBE) in 2004.
