Jacques Ranciere

Jacques Rancière, born in Algiers in 1940, is a French philosopher. From 1969 to 2000, he taught philosophy and art theory at the University of Paris VIII in Vincennes and Saint-Denis. For an extended period, he edited the journal Révoltes logiques. His work focuses on political philosophy, aesthetics and ethics, and his books have been translated into numerous languages.
