Irina Rastorgueva, born in 1983 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, studied philology at Sakhalin State University. She worked as a cultural journalist and taught journalism there from 2006 to 2015. In 2011, she founded the cultural magazine ProSakhalin. From 2011 to 2017, she was a dramaturg at the Chekhov Theatre on Sakhalin and served as artistic production manager of the Far Eastern Theatre Forum / Theatre go round Festival in Sapporo. Rastorgueva has published scholarly articles on twentieth-century literature and journalism, as well as the book Das Russlandsimulakrum: Kleine Kulturgeschichte des politischen Protests in Russland. With Thomas Martin, she translated and edited RUSSENBRECHT and works by Georgi Demidov.
