Irina Korschunow

Irina Korschunow (1925–2013) was a German author from a German-Russian family. Born in Stendal, she studied German literature in Göttingen. She first became known for her children’s book series “Wawuschel.” Among her best-known works are “Hanno malt sich einen Drachen” and “Der Findefuchs”; she also published novels for young readers and adults. Her books were translated into numerous languages and received several awards. For her body of work, she was awarded the Roswitha Memorial Medal, the literary prize of the city of Gandersheim. Korschunow died in Munich in 2013.
