Irene Heidelberger-Leonard

Irene Heidelberger-Leonard, born in exile in France in 1944, was Professor of Modern German Literature at the Université libre de Bruxelles until 2009 and is an Honorary Professor at the University of London. She published on authors including Günter Grass, Alfred Andersch, Jurek Becker, W. G. Sebald, and Imre Kertész. She was the general editor of the nine-volume collected works of Jean Améry, published from 2002 to 2008. For her biography *Jean Améry: Revolte in der Resignation* (2004), she received the Einhard Prize for outstanding biography in 2005.
