Howard W. French

Born in 1957, Howard W. French is an American journalist and author. He joined The New York Times in 1986 and worked as a foreign correspondent and bureau chief from 1990 to 2008, covering Central America and the Caribbean, West and Central Africa, Japan, the two Koreas, and China, where he was based in Shanghai. In 2008, he became a professor of journalism at Columbia University.
