H. G. Adler (1910–1988) was a poet, historian, sociologist, and philosopher born in Prague. A survivor of Auschwitz, he wrote influential studies of Theresienstadt and the analysis „Der verwaltete Mensch“ on totalitarian bureaucracy. His literary works include the novels „Die unsichtbare Wand“, „Eine Reise“, and „Panorama“. Adler died in London.
