Helene Hegemann

Helene Hegemann was born in 1992. She works as an author and filmmaker. In 2008, her first film, »Torpedo«, won the Max Ophüls Prize. She made her literary debut in 2010 with the novel »Axolotl Roadkill«, which has been translated into 20 languages and adapted by Hegemann as the film »Axolotl Overkill«. In 2017, the film received the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Cinematography at the Sundance Film Festival. Her subsequent novels include »Jage zwei Tiger« (2013) and »Bungalow« (2018), which was nominated for the German Book Prize. She also published the short-story collection »Schlachtensee« (2022) and wrote essays on Patti Smith and Christoph Schlingensief in 2021.
