Heike van Hoorn was born in 1971 in Leer, East Frisia. She holds a doctorate in history and worked as a department head in the Hessian State Chancellery. Another stage in her career was serving as managing director of the German Transport Forum. As an author, she has published crime novels set in East Frisia, including the Inspector Möllenkamp series. Heike van Hoorn is a mother of twins and an enthusiastic amateur gardener.
