Hector Malot

Hector-Henri Malot (1830–1907) was a French novelist. He was born on 20 May 1830 in La Bouille near Rouen and died on 18 July 1907 in Fontenay-sous-Bois. Malot wrote around 70 novels. His best-known works include Sans famille (1878). Orphans are often the central characters in his children’s novels, which also address the difficult living conditions in 19th-century France.
