Hans Adler is Professor Emeritus of Modern Literature at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the United States. His research focuses on German literature from the 18th to the 21st century and on the relationship between philosophy, aesthetics, and literature. He served as president of the International Herder Society from 1995 to 1999 and was awarded the Herder Medal in 2012.
