Hanna Schygulla

Hanna Schygulla was born in 1943 in Katowice, Upper Silesia. From 1964, she pursued academic studies and took acting lessons in Munich, where she met director Rainer Werner Fassbinder. She became particularly known for her collaborations with Fassbinder. Her first major international success came with his film »The Marriage of Maria Braun« (1978). From the 1990s onward, she also established herself as a chanson singer.
